Description
A popular motif for embroidery for centuries, the Tree of Life design is typified by sinuous stems extending from a single trunk, exotic flora and a trio of decorative hillocks.
Often utilised in crewel work, here it is stitched with a stunning array of gold threads to create a perfect sampler for metal thread techniques.
Worked onto a ground of rich purple satin, the design is enhanced with colourful paua shell, kid leather and sparkling glass and gold beads.
