More about this digital file
Description
‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’ is a well-known phrase, originating in Wales in the nineteenth century, and while the real thing may be good for your health, this splendid example is a great place to keep your needles and pins.
Worked in six, individual segments using four, lacy blackwork patterns, the variegated stitching is enhanced with tiny seed beads, echoing the colours of the thread.
Gleaming green metallic couching thread is used to stitch the leaf and the stalk is formed from felt.
