The Four Seasons Casket

Inspired by embroidered caskets of the Stuart period, intricate boxes made to hold personal items, Betsy Morgan has created a stunning casket showcasing counted thread embroidery, with spaces to hold a matching set of eight needlework accessories.

Drawing on the four seasons, each exquisite casket panel features, motifs inspired by summer, autumn, winter and spring, stitched in lustrous silk threads in a harmonious palette. The lid panel is further embellished with stumpwork and goldwork.

The casket designs are echoed in the beautiful accessories: a delightful pincushion that is a miniature form of the main casket, needlebook, emery, thimble bag, scissor sheath, scissor fob, thread holder and spool box.
