The First Nöel - i116 Kit

by Wendy Innes

Festive goldwork and stumpwork panel celebrating Christmas.

Description

Thought to have its origins in the 15th century, The First Noël is a much-loved carol that encapsulates the Christmas story and was first published in 1833 by William Sandys.

Stitched using stumpwork and goldwork techniques, this enchanting, framed embroidery utilises the traditional festive colours of green and red together with the alluring glint of gold threads and crystal beads.

A sprig of holly with glistening red berries rests beneath the couched letters and a trio of bright stars twinkle overhead.
