Description

Long held by many cultures as a symbol of fertility, the pomegranate is also thought to bring abundance and good luck.

Depicted here in its classic tree form, the trunk, leaves and bright scarlet flowers are embroidered with a combination of surface stitches.

The leathery skins of the plump coral fruit are worked as detached elements, enclosing the glossy beaded arils.

A lustrous satin stitch initial is worked beneath a goldwork beetle, and a snail at the base of the tree completes the image.
