Darwin Woollybutt & Blue-banded Bee - i130 Kit
by Denise Mackey
Stumpwork study of an Australian eucalypt and solitary native bee.
Description
The vivid scarlet blossom and rich mahogany gumnuts of the spectacular Darwin woollybutt (Eucalyptus miniata) form a stunning contrast with the striped abdomen of one of Australia’s distinctive indigenous insects, the blue-banded bee (Amegilla cingulata).
Stitched onto ivory duchess satin with stranded cotton threads, surface embroidery and stumpwork techniques are cleverly combined to create this elegant study of these unique specimens.
