Description
A hussif, or huswif, is an eighteenth-century term that refers to a small roll containing essential sewing supplies.
Both names are variant forms of housewife and acknowledge the range of implements she would use daily in keeping house.
This charming example contains a pincushion, needle minder and scissor fob and is stitched onto natural linen with navy blue thread.
Small in size, it is designed to tuck into a pocket or workbox where it stays until needed to make important repairs or to steal a moment for some quiet stitching.
