What Are You Stitching?
2ND OCTOBER 2026 - ASU #545

‘This project, Secrets by Laurence Lieblich, is one of my favourites. I wanted to try silk threads, so I sent for the kit, and now I’m in love with the feel, sheen and richness of these threads.
The metallics and crystals add a festive feel to this Christmas pyramid box. Although it’s supposed to enclose a treat for someone, it’s staying right here - this is a treat for me!’

What a beautiful first project with silk threads, Patricia. Laurence’s pyramid certainly has an elegant and festive feel to it, and your recreation of the design is just as gorgeous as the original. After the hard work and hours that went into this, you certainly deserve to cherish it as a treat for yourself!

_‘I started a stitching journey, starting with quilt making, in a patchwork group with four of these beautiful women, since the early 1990s. In the past decade or so, we turned to embroidery and found much of our design inspiration from - you guessed it… Inspirations magazines! _
The four women from the original patchwork group are an inspiration in themselves, as they are now in their early 90s and still going strong.
They love Trish Burr’s designs and are not afraid to try any new technique.’

‘They really enjoy learning new stitches and their families are very proud of their prowess and capabilities. We enjoy our Monday mornings together, chatting away about all topics and current affairs.
Lots of laughter is heard and cares forgotten as we work out how to improve our stitching and enjoy a cuppa at the end of the session. Thank you for your wonderful magazine that inspires us!’

Dorothy, the longevity of your stitching group is itself an impressive feat, let alone the myriad gorgeous designs you’ve all completed. The attitude of not being afraid to try a new technique is something we can all learn from. We’re so pleased our publications have been able to play a small part in the community you’ve all found through the wonderful pursuit of needlework, and we pass our warmest regards onto each and every one of you.

‘I was given the book ‘In Bloom’ by Ana Mallah for my birthday from a dear embroidery friend.
I decided to embroider the beautiful Violets, but reduced it a little so it would fit into a section of my printer drawer.
Here is my stumpwork embroidery next to the flowers in my garden.’

This is a beautiful recreation of Ana’s gorgeous design, Angela, and your addition of printed bumblebee fabric is so charming. Your stumpwork is impressive indeed and looks right at home in your gorgeous garden. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Have you stitched a design as a treat for yourself? Do you have a stitching group to provide company while you embroider away? Or have you recently completed a floral project?
Whatever you are stitching, we’d love to see it! Email photos of what you’ve created with needle and thread along with a few details about your stitching journey to news@inspirationsstudios.com
