What Are You Stitching?

Cheryn Mawdsley

‘So much fun… found an old unfinished tablecloth whilst cleaning out my dad’s home. Decided to use old doilies, stitch paint snippets of fabric and use some of my old creations to adorn it. So relaxing deciding not to stress about perfection. Thanks to the entire team at Inspirations, what would we do without you.’

What a gorgeous final piece, Cheryn, and a great way to bring new life to old or unfinished pieces. Your stitching and creativity are impressive, and the joy you felt while stitching shines through; thank you sharing this with us.

‘I have so enjoyed making these Betsy Morgan Etui projects from the Willing Hands Book 1. The patterns and 3D making and finishing really challenged me to learn new skills and increase my confidence, helping me to tackle some other 3D needlework projects I’ve aspired to create.’

‘I really liked taking my time to stitch all the elements and feel like I’ve accomplished beautiful heirlooms to hand on. I have to say, once they are finished, they are incredibly robust and bring me a lot of joy and satisfaction when I look at them and share these tiny art pieces with others.’

Jude, your recreation of Betsy Morgan’s designs are incredible, and will indeed make beautiful heirlooms to pass on. Your stitching and construction is impressive and your increased confidence has been well earned. We would also love to see your other 3D projects as well! Keep up the great work.

‘Thought you might like to see this rag doll I have recently finished, using Susan O’Connor’s wonderful Little Rag Doll pattern in Inspirations issue #65 of Inspirations magazine, going back to 2010!

I have made it for my granddaughter, Katy, (aged 7 - soon to be 8). She loves her cuddly toys, but I thought it would be nice for her to have a ‘friend’ now and someone she can talk to, when she comes home from school.’

Your rag doll is wonderful, Jacquie, and bound to be Katy’s newfound best friend. She is colourful, full of love and looks like a great listener! How lucky Katy is to receive such a gorgeous and heartfelt gift.

Have you use old or unfinished projects to create something new? Have you recently created a project that will become a family heirloom? Or have you made a gift for a grandchild?

Whatever you are stitching, we’d love to see it! Email photos of what you’ve created with needle and thread along with a few details about your stitching journey to news@inspirationsstudios.com
