What Are You Stitching?

‘The inside lining & pincushion are cotton and the needlepage is wool. The needlepage is at the top of the case, the pincushion is in the middle and a pocket is at the bottom.’

‘This next project is a Clamshell Needlebook embellished with bead embroidery. The larger flower is on the front and outside is velvet on this one too.’

‘The inside lining is cotton and the needle pages are wool, same as the previous one.’

Stephanie, the intricacy and detail of your beadwork is impressive and your designs are so unique and eye-catching. We can see these pieces have been a labour of love for you and we applaud your dedication and handiwork; keep up the excellent work.

Nancy McGregor

‘Here are a few things I have worked on over the last few years. The first is an embroidered top I made for a sewing box I put together for a friend.’

22.jpg

‘The second is a Jenny McWhinney bunny embroidered for another friend's granddaughter.’

23.jpg

‘The third is based on an Inspirations pattern, Arcadia, from Inspirations issue #109. I decided to turn it into a pillow as a gift for a friend and am currently redoing the breast in blue.’

The generosity in the gifts you create for your friends is remarkable, Nancy. Your friends are lucky to have you in their lives, and we are lucky you chose to share these delightful pieces with us; thank you.

Pat Armour

‘Seeing Liberty by Jane Nicholas reminded me of a quote I embroidered for my husband Jim. We both enjoy the sitcom ‘Barney Miller’ that starred Hal Linden. Over the Covid lockdown we rewatched the series and both of us would giggle when Jack Soo as the character Nick Yamano would ‘quote’ sayings from his grandfather. This was one of our favorites.’

‘I added the grasshopper/locust from one of Jane's books. I began the embroidery while sitting in a pre-op room waiting for surgery. Stitching helped calm my nerves as it so often does. My husband is my greatest support. It was a treat to create something for him.’

What a fun and unique project, Pat, and so full of adoration for your husband. Your letter work is impressive, and your adorable locust adds the perfect complementary touch. We love hearing that embroidery helps calm your nerves, and we’re thrilled you chose to share this with us.
