What Are You Stitching?
17TH OCTOBER 2025 - ASU #498
Heather
‘Mine definitely come under the ‘not good enough’ category. I have, however been using relaxing afternoons on holiday to stitch little gifts ready for Christmas or birthdays. Most of my friends don’t do any handicrafts, so I think they will be appreciated. Glasses cases and lavender bags filled with my home-grown lavender.’

Heather, we’re going to have to respectfully disagree with you here: your stitching is adorable, vibrant and more than ‘good enough’! These gorgeous gifts will surely bring lots of joy to your lucky friends. Keep up the incredible work and never underestimate how clever you are - anyone who can stitch is akin to a magician!

‘Every week is filled with beauty and delight in receiving news from the people creating such wonderful embroidery artworks. This is an encouragement in pursuing further on this beautiful and inspiring path. At this moment, I have two « BEA » (broderies en avancement); this first one contains many challenging stitches for me, but this process feels quite rewarding. The Hearts and Roses project by Lesley McConnell is from Inspirations Issue #75.’

‘The second one is really fun to make and to decide on the right letters to embroider (BEA). This project, Bon Voyage by Gail Doane, is from Inspirations Issue #122.’

‘The fabrics, the threads and the colours are a little different from the original embroidery artworks, and these projects are still in progress. Also during this process, moments were taken to achieve some bookmarks given to my dentist and her colleagues. These bookmarks were inspired by the ones made of plastic available at any bookstore. Embroidery is good work and pure joy!’

Your embroidery is gorgeous, Nathalie, and we love to hear that you’re reaping the rewards of your hard work in tackling some more challenging stitches. Your stitched bookmarks are nothing short of stunning, and such incredible gifts. Your works in progress are coming along beautifully, and we would love to see them again once complete!

‘I finished this some months ago. It is from the Royal Needlework Society, Intermediate Crewel project.’

Your crewel project is stunning, Winifred, and so vibrant. A gorgeous design completed by a terrific embroiderer. Congratulations on completing this piece and thank you for sharing it with us.
Have you stitched a gift for your loved ones? Do you have a collection of projects still in progress? Or have you embarked on your own crewel work project?
