What a lucky friend to receive such a gorgeous gift, Jenni, and your rabbit with an umbrella is simply adorable. Your stitching is fun, vibrant and very well done; thank you for sharing this with us.

Lucy

‘This is my version of a humpback whale, my favourite sea creature. He was made with a mixture of perlé, silk and stranded thread, mostly in stem stitch to give the ridged effect. He's called Humphrey.’

Humphrey is amazing! You’ve certainly nailed the ridged effect through your clever use of threads and techniques. The waves and small birds you’ve added provide the perfect background to the real star of the show, Humphrey. This is a great piece, Lucy, we hope you’re very pleased.

Gigliola Meldini

‘Good morning. It will be an honor for me to include some of my work in All Stitched Up! My path was this: already as a child I started with small ‘messes’.

My mother embroidered and my grandmother did bobbin lace work, Cantù lace. Older, around the age of 12, I started with half-stitch work, then classic embroidery, carving, crochet and bobbin lace.

These are some images of work I have done in previous years.'

‘Thanks to the Italian Cross-Stitch Association in Milan, I started with cross-stitch, first on aida canvas and now only on linen.

Now, at the age of 72, I continue with my beloved cross-stitch. These are some images of work I have done lately.’

Gigliola, what an incredible body of work you’ve built up over the years. The influence your mother and grandmother have had on your love for embroidery is beautiful to hear, and the progression of your stitching from previous years to your more recent work is wonderful to see.

We’re so thrilled you’ve shared this with us.

Do you enjoying creating pieces to gift to a friend or loved one? Have you recently stitched your favourite animal? Or have you been practicing your craft from a young age?

Whatever you are stitching, we’d love to see it! Email photos of what you’ve created with needle and thread along with a few details about your stitching journey to news@inspirationsstudios.com
