What Are You Stitching?

‘I attended the Embroiderers’ Association of Canada's Seminar held in Calgary, Alberta mid-May. One of the classes I took (and I'm so happy I did!) was Lambani Embroidery taught by Mugdha Dongare - a wonderful opportunity to learn a style from a part of the world I find so intriguing.’

‘The piece was designed to be a wall hanging. I don't have a lot of wall space left so I think I will be putting it on the back of a jean jacket (or similar). The colours and exuberance of the stitching of this tradition are so inspiring. This was a lot of fun.’
What a wonderful event to attend, and a fantastic piece to come away with. It’s most definitely a vibrant and eye-catching design, and the idea of embellishing a jacket is a terrific way to show off your work Adrienne. We hope you continue to follow your curiosity and create many more interesting pieces.

‘I thought I'd share with you my completed projects. Sue Spargo's sewing roll Bright Bouquet from Inspirations magazine issue #94 is the first wool project that I've done. Also, a first using her threads and stitches. This was definitely a challenge but an enjoyable challenge.’

‘I’ve also created two embroidered cards, one featuring roses using the design Illuminata from Inspirations issue #45 and another small stitchery embroidery I completed. The small designs make lovely cards, which each recipient loved to receive.’

Ann, these are wonderful projects. You’ve done an excellent job re-creating Sue Spargo’s sewing roll, it’s such a fun design, and your cards are elegant and gorgeous. We have no doubt that anyone on the receiving end is simply overjoyed; we might even be a little envious! Thank you for sharing this with us.

‘After a lot of fun working on this project, I have finished. Below is a photo of my Jenny Adin-Christie Peacock Etui. I'm eagerly awaiting the re-stocking of her kits so that I can start another one. I hope they will be available soon!’

What a terrific re-creation of a very intricate project, Denise. Your hard work has paid off, and your finished piece tells the story of a skilled and dedicated stitcher. We love hearing how much fun you had with this and look forward to seeing more of your work in future.
Have you displayed your embroidery in a unique way? Do you enjoy creating pieces to gift to others? Or have you embarked on your own Jenny Adin-Christie creation?
