What Are You Stitching?

Rachael Willis

‘Just thought I'd share some of my latest stitching... I fell in love with Trish Burr's whitework with colour designs a couple of years ago and finally made the time last year to have a go at it.

I stitched the project ‘Thandiswa’ for my Dad as a Christmas present (as he spent several years living and working in Africa) and ‘Bumblebee’ for myself.’

‘Even though having them professionally framed was expensive, I think it was well worth the investment. I'm quite chuffed with results and Dad was pretty pleased too!’

‘Thank you for introducing me to Trish Burr's work. I have so many more of her designs on my ‘To do’ list... now I just have to find the time!’

Rachael, it’s wonderful to hear how much joy Trish’s projects have brought you (and your dad!). It’s amazing what a difference professional framing can make – definitely worth it considering the amount of time and skill you invest in each piece. We can’t wait to see what you take on next!

Judy McMullan

‘I've just finished a project that I've been working on and off for the past year. It's a memento of different houses I've lived in over the years.’

‘My parents tended to move around a lot, so I've lived in 26 different places. These 11 are the most significant places to me.’

‘The one large block is where I have lived for 41 years, since I was married. The last block is the house we are intending to move to this summer. In that block, the foliage is a bit of a fantasy as there are no plants there right now!’

‘Thanks to Mike Parr for giving me the inspiration to ‘Stitch Your Own Story’.’

What a truly special stitching project, Judy. Capturing the essence of the homes that have shaped your life through needle and thread is such a creative and moving way to tell your story. We especially admire the way you’ve used your needle to blend past, present, and future – well done.

Have you tried your hand at whitework with colour? Created a design that celebrates the places that have shaped your life? Or used needle and thread to capture your personal story in a unique way?

Whatever you are stitching, we’d love to see it! Email photos of what you’ve created with needle and thread along with a few details about your stitching journey to news@inspirationsstudios.com
