Marguerite Daisy Pot by Ana Mallah
22ND AUGUST 2025 - ASU #490
Few flowers spark happiness as easily as the daisy. With its sunny centre surrounded by a frilly skirt of snowy white petals, it has long been a symbol of innocence, friendship, and joy.
Easy to grow, long-lasting, and cheerfully understated, the daisy brings a quiet optimism wherever it blooms.
Now, thanks to Ana Mallah, it also blooms in thread.
Marguerite Daisy Pot is a perfectly petite three-dimensional embroidered pot that pairs beautifully with Ana’s Jonquil Pot from her book In Bloom.
Designed as a companion, the two make a delightful set, each one capturing a single, iconic flower in full bloom atop a softly textured, handcrafted pot.
The daisy’s signature structure is rendered in exquisite detail. Thirty individual petals, which at first glance appear white, are in fact subtly shaded in varying combinations of blush pinks, soft creams, and delicate greens.
The effect is so refined that it may go unnoticed at a distance, yet up close, it adds a level of tonal sophistication that’s unmistakably Ana.
It’s this kind of thoughtful ‘extra’ that elevates her work and gives each piece a quiet brilliance.
Seventeen lush green cotton organdie leaves encircle the bloom completing the floral crown, while a tiny, perfectly stitched ladybird has made herself at home on one of the inner petals, a charming final detail that is guaranteed to bring a smile.
The base of the pot is cleverly embroidered with vertical ridges made from couched and overcast macramé cord in tonal shades to create a tactile contrast to the delicate daisy above.
The finished piece measures approximately 8cm x 6cm (3 1⁄8" x 2 3⁄8") just the right size to hold treasured keepsakes, a scattering of pins, or even a small gift for someone special.
As with the Jonquil Pot, Ana guides you through every single element and every stage of creation in detailed step-by-step instruction, complete with close up images, illustrations and high detail photography.
Nothing is left to chance with even the construction meticulously explained.
Ready-to-Stitch kits are also available, with every component carefully sourced to match the original including the fabrics, wool felt, fusible webbing, macrame cord, wires, wadding, card, sewing threads, embroidery threads and needles.
The instructions to guide you from first stitch to final assembly for both the Marguerite Daisy and Jonquil pots are all included in the book In Bloom, sold separately.
Projects like these are a true joy to stitch, and once completed, you’ll be so delighted with what you’ve created that every time you use them, you’ll be reminded of just how magical the art of embroidery really is.
