Project: Remember Me Publication: The Handpicked Collection 3 Designer: Kim Beamish
On Sunday it will be time to turn the page on your Inspirations wall calendar for the March reveal and discover a design that carries a story far beyond its stitches.
Kim Beamish’s Remember Me was inspired by a piece of vintage Hardanger found at an estate sale, worked onto 60-count linen by an unknown hand.
Drawn to its spectacular star motif, Kim reimagined the design and re-stitched it using a more manageable 28-count fabric.
The end result is a stunning linen table mat worked with wrapped bars and dove’s eye stitch, with the smaller border designs featuring pulled thread techniques and satin stitch.
As you pass by your calendar this month, Remember Me offers a gentle reminder of the stories carried by needle and thread, and the unseen hands that came before us - not to mention the skill and artistic flair that Kim Beamish brings to her beautiful work.
